There can be a variety of reasons why people can't make it to the gym to exercise in their battle for weight loss or general fitness.For instance, financial (can't afford gym membership), time(not enough time in your day to get to the gym), distance ( your nearest gym might be too far away), etc, etc. So where's the next best place? The next best place for anyone to exercise when they can't get to the gym for what ever reason will always be, exercise at home.You'll be surprised at what you can achieve there, whether you live in an apartment or conventional style house.


By exercising at home, you can never be stopped by the weather, it's easy to make time in the day for it, there's no travel cost and you don't need a lot of space or equipment.
There's plenty of household items that can be used especially if you exercise at home to lose weight. Remember even a little bit of exercise is better than none and the more you do, the more energy you'll have and you'll feel more relaxed and less tired.


Weight loss exercise at home would have to be more cardiovascular orientated, but you can even use your own body weight as resistance exercises to help build muscle.
Moderate physical activity means working hard enough to make you breathe more heavily than you would normally, but not so hard that you'd be unable to exercise and talk at the same time.
It's easier than you think to exercise at home without equipment, which means there's no setting up and dismantling afterwards which can put a lot of people off.
Before you start your program, get yourself a diary of some sort, take down your measurements, your weight and set yourself some easily attainable goals. For instance, lose so many pounds in a week or month and as you write them down you can actually see your progress.
If doing thirty minutes a day sounds too much in one go then split it down to fifteen minute bursts or even three ten minute periods and do this at least four to five days a week.
There are four main types of exercise. To get the most benefit, you should include these in your weekly routine.

Cardiovascular; can be walking, jogging, running on the spot, or repetitive stair climbing.
Strength (resistance); push ups, slow stair climbing, squats, lifting moderately heavy items (cans of food).
Flexibility; gentle stretching and bending.
Balance; most activities for flexibility contribute to balance.
Obviously the fitter you are the more intense you can make your exercises, use your imagination on what you can use around you is key to helping you exercise at home and making it fun at the same time.
