How to find your ideal weight



Understanding what your ideal weight is can help you achieve any weight loss goal.  It is important to speak with your doctor to see if they can help you to determine what your idea weight for your age, gender, and body type is. An ideal weight can really vary from person to person and should be based on many factors. Once you know what your ideal weight is, it will be easier to keep the weight off. Let’s look into how it is determined what exactly your ideal weight is.


The first step to figuring out what your target weight is to find out what you’re BMI or Body Mass Index is. It is important to understand if you are within your ideal weight range, as staying in an ideal weight range will help keep the health risks of other issues at bay.
Your target weight is really based on your BMI. The recommended BMI for all individuals is 19-25. If you fall in between those numbers, chances are you already are at your ideal weight.  It is important to know what your weight size and shape is to see your risks at weight related diseases such as diabetes, heart disease, and high blood pressure.  Use a tape measure to measure your waist size. It should be between
  • Under 40 inches for men
  • Under 35 inches for women
It is important to your health to maintain your target weight. Weight gain can lead to the following health conditions:
  • High cholesterol

  • Type 2 diabetes
  • Metabolic syndrome

The easiest way to keep within your idea weight is with a well balanced diet and exercise routine. It may take some self discipline to keep up a schedule of healthy eating and an exercise routine, but in the end it is surely worth it.
The best healthy diet is to include the following foods:
  • Whole grains
  • Fruits
  • Veggies
  • Vitamin supplements: Such as a multi daily vitamin.
  • Calcium enriched foods: Such as milk or yogurt
  • Omega-3 fatty acids: Such as those in salmon
All of the above foods are important in any healthy weight plan to achieve ideal weight.  In addition to a healthy weight plan to achieve your ideal weight you want to incorporate an exercise plan. Working out at least 3-4 times a week is beneficial in any diet plan. The exercise routine to maintain your ideal weight would be cardiovascular exercise. This is very beneficial to those who are trying to lose weight to reach their ideal weight.
Depending on your age, height and gender your ideal weight will vary. The best way to look at your ideal weight is to determine your BMI as discussed above. The BMI must be under 25 in order to be considered at a healthy (ideal) weight. It is very important before starting any new diet or exercise program to consult your doctor. Your doctor will help you discuss what your ideal weight goal should be. As well as give you ideas to reach your ideal weight and stay there.
